In August 1979, TBH moved to its present location, a 160-acre site in west Tulsa in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Always evolving to meet the needs of troubled boys and hurting families, TBH is now recognized and accredited as a residential treatment facility for boys with emotional and behavioral problems. It was the first and remains the largest facility serving troubled boys in Oklahoma.
This place is amazing! The staff really cares and the counseling services are great. I appreciate everything this organization did for my son!
Founded in 1918, and originally incorporated in 1919, Tulsa Boys' Home (TBH) began in a two-story house on Boston Avenue in downtown Tulsa. Leaders of the First Presbyterian Church and the Rotary Club of Tulsa were instrumental in its establishment. Its first two boys were found sleeping in trash boxes in an alley. TBH served more than 130 troubled boys from Oklahoma in its first two years.
TBH grew dramatically during the first few years, and by 1921 had moved into two frame buildings at 8th and Rockford near downtown Tulsa. In 1924, TBH became a charter member of the Community Chest that evolved into the United Way. In 1928, TBH moved again to largerbuildings just east of downtown Tulsa because of increased demand.
